Waiting for Prime Time

So that Blogger will stop informing me (with an exclamation point!) that there are not posts, here one goes real quick...

A few high level goals:
  • Post the high school level humanities program along with links to placed to buy the books, scheduling suggestions, explanatory notes, and eventually "tracks" based on area or interest of desired intensity. (This is to try to pull together all of the material we have to work with given that the list of assignments varried over the years, and in each incarnation the program contained a lot of things that couldn't be fit into the actual school-year schedule under "read alouds" or "supplemental".
  • Work on separate suggestiong reading lists for grade 5-8 range and 1-4 range, again doing a chronological approach to Western Culture, but doing age appropriate stuff.
  • Write a set of "stories through history" pieces including both history and literature aimed at the youngest years for read aloud or (past a certain age) for kids to read to themselves. I'm thinking ages 5-9. I'm thinking four volumes for ancient, medieval, 1450-1850 and 1850 to present. I could be flixible on the periods though. And hopefully Tim could be imposed upon to illustrate.

The idea is to work on developing these resources in a collaborative online environment where other people can make suggestions and potentially even submit content (though not change content without permission -- I'm not a sure about a wiki per se) but as things hit a certain level of completion make hard copy versions of things available through Lulu.

Long term, the main site would be used for developing and distributing all these resources, and the blog would be more of a free form discussion and promotion area.
